Peer Advocate Academy

As an engaged member of Gen Z…instead of just looking the other way…you’re ready to activate and engage with your peers, your school, and your entire community. And uproot abuse in a generation.

Here’s how.

The Peer Advocate Academy is an interactive, fun, immersive, and highly engaging 4-day training that educates 13–18-year-old student leaders at high schools and colleges across the U.S. We focus on the risk factors, red flags, and root causes of Interpersonal Violence (domestic, sexual, teen dating violence, stalking and bullying) and how to prevent it. Guided by interpersonal violence prevention experts, we’ll cover:

  • How to support peers who’ve experienced an unhealthy, controlling, toxic, or abusive friendship or relationship.
  • Peer advocacy skills
  • Ways to connect with other student leaders
  • How to cultivate a culture of empathy, respect, and consent
  • Building a community to uproot abuse

After completing the Peer Advocate Academy, participants will be encouraged to apply for a Lead Peer Advocate internship position to uproot abuse on their school campuses by creating a Peer Advocate Crew club and participating in awareness campaigns.

The Academy is held three times a year:

  1. June: In Maricopa County, Arizona.
  2. August: At the Annual NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance) Conference.
  3. December: Virtual over winter break.

Tania Ramos, Lead Peer Advocate

Tania Ramos was a Lead Peer Advocate while a Senior at Maryvale High School in Phoenix, Arizona where she was also a member of the National Honor Society. “I love my work as a Lead Peer Advocate! I am most passionate about changing the negative ways body image and self-image affect the way teens view themselves. BLOOM365 is a place where I can advocate fiercely for a cause I am truly passionate about!”

Paying it forward is important to Tania because she says it helps her grow more as a person, learn more and stay humble. Tania’s favorite quote is, “Más vale sólo que mal acompañado.” You’re not always going to be surrounded by people that match your same energy or always have that one thing that makes you happy so in order to be able to succeed and learn sometimes you have to learn to be on your own and step up for yourself. #BLOOMbig
